It is an exciting month on the Israel foodie scene, especially for kosher foodies with the opening of a second kosher restaurant by Chef Eyal Shani and the new Qumran chef restaurant, both in Tel Aviv. Jerusalem has a new wine bar in the Scottish Guesthouse and Toto restaurant is finally reopening having closed for Corona two years ago. I don’t want to speak too soon but it finally seems like things are returning to normal in the restaurant scene.

Kosher Restaurant News

  • Dvora by Eyal Shani is the Chef’s newest kosher restaurant in the Debrah Brown Hotel on Ben Yehuda in Tel Aviv. The menu includes some of Shani’s signature dishes such as the bag of garlicky green beans, lima beans, and HaSalon’s Foccacia.  There are also some new dishes including roast beef carpaccio and gravadlax served on a large stone. For now, the restaurant serves breakfast only to hotel guests. Find out more about Shani’s other restaurants here.
  • Infused JLM is a store selling teas made from fresh fruit and herbs, near Shuk Machaneh Yehuda in Jerusalem.
  • La Piedra pizza restaurant in Jerusalem has opened a second branch in Arnona.
  • MojoSan is an Asian self-service restaurant in the Piano Center in Netanya. This is the first kosher restaurant from the Mojo restaurant group. The menu includes sushi, steamed buns, bubble tea and dim sum.
  • Qumran has opened on Haarba Street in Tel Aviv in place of the recently closed Makoto (which took over from Quattro). The kitchen is run by Chef Dima Manshrov who was previously a private chef and the menu focuses on contemporary raw fish, meat, and vegetable dishes.
  • Salon Yevani is a Greek & Turkish tavern by Chef Guy Peretz in the West Hotel in Ashdod.
  • Tomer Tomas BePita is a meat street food restaurant in Tel Aviv.

Not Kosher Restaurant News

  • Afui Bake House is a bakery by Chef Raz Rahav and the  OCD group.
  • Dalida Shipudia in Shuk Levinsky is the daytime restaurant that becomes Dalida bar at night.
  • Gabbys Goodies is a dessert shop on Allenby Street in Tel Aviv focusing on cookies. The store is only open on Fridays but delivers Monday to Thursday.
  • Issa Fish Market is a fish restaurant and shop in the new Noga complex in Yafo. Diners can select fresh fish from the store and choose to have it grilled, baked or fried.
  • La Cappa is a pizza restaurant in Kfra Saba by chefs Tal Haimovich and Moran Mirelman, who previously worked at Cafe Italia and Magazino. The pizza is sold by weight and there are also Italian sandwiches and Sfogliatella for dessert.
  • Lela Deli Bar is a deli and bar next to Lela Bakery in Shuk HaCarmel. The new menu includes Turkish, Greek, Bulgarian, Romanian, Russian, and Georgian cuisine. Although Lela Bakery is kosher, the deli bar is not and has both dairy and meat dishes on the menu.
  • Nununu Cakes is a dessert shop by Chef Guy Gamzo of Nununu Dirty Dining.
  • St. Urban is a wine bar and restaurant inside the Scots Guesthouse in Jerusalem.
  • Toti is an Arabic restaurant in Kfar Dvoria in the Jezreel Valley serving traditional Arabic food, along with Neopolitan Pizza.
