Friday Night Bars in Jerusalem

A List of Bars Open on Friday Night in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem might be nicknamed the Holy City, but it is a myth that everything closes for Shabbat; plenty of Jerusalem bars are open on Friday night. From wine bars with a full food menu to pubs with a DJ, this post provides information about these bars to help you decide where you want to go out on Friday night in Jerusalem.

  • Blend 5 is a wine bar and restaurant off the lobby of the Brown JLM Mamilla hotel, from the owners of the former Adom restaurant. There is a large outside seating area.
  • Deja Bu is a restaurant and bar in Gan Haatzmaut, featuring a large outdoor area. There is a varied menu, but I find it quite overpriced.
  • Dublin Jerusalem is an Irish pub in the city center, popular on Friday nights with 30- 50-year-olds.
  • Gatsby is a speakeasy-style cocktail bar located in the city center of Jerusalem, owned by the Machneyuda Group. The menu is designed to complement the cocktails, with food that pairs perfectly with them.
  • Glen Whisky Bar is a beer and whisky bar on Agron Street.
  • Hataklit is a simple bar on a quiet street corner with a large pavement seating area.
  • Mazkeka is a live music venue with a great pizza menu.
  • Shoshana Bar is a student bar at the end of Shoshan Street behind City Hall.
  • Taboon Wine Bar, located in the New Gate complex of the Old City, offers a selection of Armenian dishes, focaccia, and pizza baked in a taboon.
  • Wine Bar is a local wine bar in Rehavia that is very popular on Friday nights. The bar food menu includes a selection of salads, paninis, cheese platters, and cold meat platters.  Most of the wines are available in glass or by the bottle.
