Kosher Israel Restaurant Openings

  • Amaia is a dairy fish restaurant in Baka run by Chef Oshi Basson and her brother Omer.
  • Beber Deli is a butcher and delicatessen in Netanya, next to and owned by Beef Bar restaurant.
  • Belmont Patisserie is a French cafe and patisserie in Jerusalem near Mamilla.
  • Cafe Malka is a cafe in Eilat City Center.
  • Campanelle is a dairy Italian restaurant in Ramat Gan with a focus on fresh pasta.
  • Coco Burger (Badatz Machpud) is a burger restaurant in Petach Tikva by Chef Moshe Badishi, who is the chef of Vida in Tiveria. The menu includes a variety of burgers, including French, Mexican, Indonesian, Japanese, Thai, German, American, and Vietnamese style, popcorn chicken, schnitzel, Asado bun, and more.
  • David 16 is a beautifully designed new restaurant off King David Street, overlooking the picturesque courtyard of The North African Jewish Heritage Center in Jerusalem.  The large restaurant includes an enclosed outside smoking area and a small cigar room at the back. Chef Orel Kimchi of Popina consulted on the menu.
  • Hanehed is a deli and sandwich shop in Modi’in.
  • Le Moulin Doré (Mehadrin) French patisserie has opened a new branch inside the Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem.
  • Mansoura is a self-service restaurant in Haifa serving home-made Lebanese food, including kibbeh nayyeh, sfiha, shakshuka, and masabacha.
  • Mendelsohn’s Pizza from Brooklyn, New York, has opened a branch in Givat Shaul.
  • Meshek 45 is a rustic-style meat restaurant on Moshav Dvora in the Jezreel Valley.
  • Nucha Rooftop is a meat restaurant on the roof of the new Hotel Nucha. The bar is managed by the chefs from Angelica, together with Peacock Bar.
  • Picual (Badatz Machpud) is a meat restaurant in Rishon Le Zion that serves a 10-course tasting menu based on Meshek Achiya picual olive oil for NIS 395 per person (excluding drinks and service).
  • Pizza & Co is a New York-style pizzeria in Rishon Le Zion, with New York donuts and soft serve ice cream for dessert.
  • Pizzelia (Badatz Rubin) is a small pizza store off King David Street in Jerusalem, with a few small tables but a focus on take-away and delivery.
  • Rona Pizza Club is a sourdough pizza restaurant in Ra’anana.
  • Schmearz Bagel Shop is a traditional New York-style bagel store by Chef Michal Epstein of Eats on Ben Yehuda in Tel Aviv, in place of Benedict, which closed after 15 years in business.
  • Segev Diner is an American diner and steakhouse in the Shop Time Center in Petach Tikva. As part of Chef Moshe Segev’s promise to lower prices in his restaurants, the starters cost up to NIS 55, and the main courses are NIS 59-99.
  • Tura Vibe is a cafe in Tura Winery, open for lunch on Wednesday to Friday, serving pizza, quiches, salads, and sandwiches.
  • Y Burgers is a burger diner in Yavne with a variety of burger toppings; the menu also includes crispy chicken and sausages.
  • Zacks Brasserie‎ is a meat restaurant in Rehovot by Chef Sahar Refael of the Cramin Restaurant Group. The chefs currently have three branches of Cramim in Beer Sheva, Moshav Segula, and Rehovot, but this is their first kosher restaurant.

Not Kosher Israel Restaurant Openings

  • Austin Sandwiches is a sandwich and salad stall in the Kibbutz Galil Yam Food Truck.
  • Bbang Bang is an Asian kiosk on Ibn Gvirol Street in Tel Aviv serving yakitori, ramen soup, Thai noodles, Asian salads, and more.
  • Brodstein Burger is a burger restaurant in Tel Aviv serving burgers made from grass-fed cows in the Golan. All the ingredients are kosher, vegan cheese, and closed on Shabbat, but the restaurant does not have a teudah.
  • Buba Cafe (Dairy no supervision) is a cafe in Afula with a varied breakfast menu as well as sandwiches and desserts.
  • Bunger is a smash burger restaurant and bar off Hillel Street in Jerusalem.
  • Dag Al Hadan Deli is a fish delicatessen next to the Dag Al Hadan restaurant on the Dan River. The deli serves homemade and locally sourced products like smoked salmon, salmon and sturgeon caviar, herring, olives, and olive oil.
  • Flora is a bar and diner in Florentine, Tel Aviv, owned by the same people as Lunel. All food and drinks on the menu are under NIS 50.
  • Funky is a ramen restaurant in Kiryat Motzkin.
  • Gan Bira is a beer garden on Kibbutz  Ein Zivan serving beers from local breweries, along with snacks.
  • Gita is a meat skewer restaurant in Shuk Levinsky.
  • Hamasgeria is a burger bar on Kibbutz  Tel Yosef near Beit She’an.
  • Jacques is a deli, cafe, and beer garden, owned by Gouje and Daniel, located in British Mandate-era stone buildings on Kibbutz Gesher Haziv.
  • Juniper is a botanical cocktail bar in Shuk Levinsky owned by the Ma Pau Group.
  • Lookout is a rooftop bar and restaurant on top of the SRF Park surf club in Tel Aviv by Chef Uri Levy of Acosta event venue and former chef of Raisa. The menu includes American, Sri Lankan, Thai, Mexican, and Israeli food.
  • Mishka is a bistro at the entrance to Kibbutz Yifat in the Jezreel Valley.
  • Molam is a Thai bar from the owners of Thai Har Sinai, located next to the restaurant in the Har Sinai complex.
  • Not Your Nonna is a small pop-up Neapolitan pizza stall in Shuk HaCarmel in Tel Aviv.
  • Oppenheimer is a neighborhood bistro in Ramat Aviv, led by Chef Yogev Gursoy.
  • Raia is a wine bar on Kibbutz Degania Aleph.
  • Rip Burger is a burger restaurant on Ben Yehuda in Tel Aviv.
  • Samra Cafe is a coffee roastery in Downtown Haifa.
  • Serra Café is a cafe and bakery in the village of Rameh near Karmiel.
  • Shamna Glida is an ice cream parlor in Pardes Hana, owned by the same people as Studio Gelato. There is also a dessert menu including tiramisu, bread pudding, and a specials menu.
  • Sherry Herring has opened a second branch in the container complex at Jaffa Port.
  • Shila Cafe is a new cafe by Chef Sharon Cohen of Shila, next to the restaurant. While the prices at Shila are on the higher end, all dishes at the cafe are less than NIS 50. It is open from 6 pm, but will eventually be open for breakfast and lunch, and is managed without reservations.
  • Suzana is a bakery and cafe in Emek Hefer open for breakfast and lunch on Sunday to Friday, and for dinner on Wednesdays.
  • Taco Ba is a taco restaurant in Shuk Levinsky in Tel Aviv, serving tacos, nachos, margaritas, and mojitos.
  • The Sataf is a cafe and bakery in Sataf with views of the surrounding Judean Hills. Open every day from 7 am to 4 pm, including Shabbat.
  • Tifosa is a takeaway Neopolitan pizza business in Gan Yavne open on Thursday and Saturday nights.
  • Twosome is a burger restaurant in Modi’in with some interesting side dishes such as Korean wings, bone marrow, cheddar jalapeno croquettes, and chicken Caesar salad.

Recent Debbest Dishes

  • I had dinner at Katzir (Kosher), the new meat restaurant in The David Kempinski Tel Aviv hotel. A full review will follow, but here is a reel of the meal.
  • Finally made it to Ola Ola (Kosher) next to Shuk HaCarmel. Overall, it was a lovely meal but not what I was expecting, and I am not sure it knows what it wants to be. Find out more here.
  • Happy hour cocktails at Sambation (Kosher) cocktail bar – NIS 35 for all drinks, 5-7 pm. Check out my review from a few months ago.
  • Hamigdal (Kosher) is now open at night as a wine bar with a lovely dairy menu. Happy hour from 6-8 pm with 20% off all food and drink. I went with a few friends for dinner, and we all loved the dishes we tried: zaatar brioche with labaneh, tuna tataki, crispy salmon burger, and buttery agnolotti.
