Israel Restaurant Openings and Foodie News for June.

This month’s openings on the Israeli restaurant scene include a kosher Japanese restaurant in Jerusalem and several wine bars around Tel Aviv and Haifa. The wine festival season continues with many interesting events around Israel for Shavuot and the Judean Hills Wine Festival, which takes place throughout June.

Kosher Israel Restaurant Openings

• Azia 19 is a Japanese restaurant in Rehavia, Jerusalem, owned by Station 9. The menu includes a selection of interesting sushi, Izakaya, and Kushiyaki (Japanese charcoal grill) dishes. Read the full review here.
• Lotem Deree (Mehadrin) is a cafe and bistro in Shekhanya in the Galil near Karmiel.

Not Kosher Israel Restaurant Openings

• Bar 30 is a small bar and restaurant in Shuk Talpiot in Haifa.
• Beit Lehem 3 is a Greek-style tavern in Shuk Bezalel in Tel Aviv, specializing in mezze and seafood. The original Beit Lechem on the corner of Weizman and Arlozorov in Tel Aviv recently reopened following a renovation and new ownership.
• Eliezer is a taboon pizza and wine bar on Ben Yehuda Street in Tel Aviv.

• George Hamara is a local bistro in Florentine in Tel Aviv.
• Itta Wine Bar is a small wine bar by Chef Orel Kimchi of Popina restaurant in Tel Aviv.

• Léonie is a cafe and bakery in Haifa.
• Magazzino has opened a dessert shop in Ramat Aviv.
• Oliphant is a wine bar and delicatessen in the Carmel center in Haifa.
• Studio Mobo is a wine bar and tasting room in Tel Aviv. It offers a small menu to accompany the wine.
• Wabi is a Japanese fast food restaurant in Tel Aviv focusing on ramen dishes.

Other Foodie News

• Adom in Jerusalem is moving from The First Station to the Brown JLM Mamilla Hotel roof for the summer, starting on 4 June.
• Cafe Gan Sipur has opened a new branch in Ness Ziona, and Greenz (Kosher) has opened a new branch in Ramat Hachayal.
• Chef Oren Asido has taken over as the head chef of Flame restaurant in the Carlton Tel Aviv. I am a big fan of Asido, and I was very disappointed by the meal I had at Flame, so I hope this improves the food and service.
• Dvora by Eyal Shani in Tel Aviv has reopened for the first time since October.

Israeli Foodie Events & Festivals

• Mateh Yehudah Wine Festival, events all over the area,  30 May to 29 June. More information can be found here.
• Villa Wilhelma Winery Shavuot Fair,  6, 7 & 10 June, NIS 280 for a picnic basket for two, including wine, cheese, and pastries
• One Nation, One Passion Festival, Selina Mantur, Ma’ale HaHamisha, 6-7 June- Food, fashion, and art stalls from North and South businesses.
• Castel Winery Shavuot Celebration, 7 June – NIS 60 includes the first glass of wine.
• Ella Valley Shavuot Party, 7 June,  unlimited wine, Don Asado food truck, DJ, NIS 99 early bird price.

• Emek Hefer Shavuot Wine Fair, Odeon Emek Hefer,  7 June.
• Lewinsohn Winery Wine Fair in Petach Tikva, 7 June, is free to enter. The fair includes Dalton Winery and Julis Distillery, which are currently evacuated, as well as food stalls by Nono & Mimi.
• Rinatya Shavuot Fair, Moshav Rinatya, 7 June. There will be food stalls, gifts, and crafts, and entry is free.
• Tel-Ya Shavuot Wine Fair,  Even Yehuda, 7 June – NIS 99 early bird.
• Tulip Wolrd White Shavuot Festival, Kiryat Tivon, 7 June, NIS 95.

• Machlevet Markovich in Moshav Nehalim (near Modiin) is hosting a Shavuot event with Mony Winery on 10-11 June.
• Neve Yarak Winery, Moshav Neve Yarak (nr Hod HaSharon), 11-12 June, Shavuot event with wine and food. There is also a tasting event on 18 June to launch the Carignan 2015 wine; tickets cost NIS 350.
• South Sharon Wine Festival, 13 June from 6 pm, features over 25 wineries from evacuated areas and local wineries. Hosted at Adam Adama Agricultural Farm in Neve Yarak. Tickets cost NIS 99 and include unlimited tastings and a free glass. Live music and food stalls.
• Riesling Summit, Sphera Winery, 14 June, featuring 16 wineries from around Israel. Tickets cost NIS 150 and include tastings from each winery.
• Wine Party, Hazuk Netanya, 26 July, NIS 110 early bird.
• TLV Cocktail Festival 2024 – Dreamland Edition, 1-2 August.
