The past weeks have been incredibly difficult in Israel. With the escalation of the war with Iran, daily life was once again disrupted. For a while, the vibrant restaurant scene that brings so much life to cities across the country fell quiet, putting Israel restaurant openings on hold.
But one of the most remarkable things about Israel is how quickly people find ways to move forward. Even as the war continues and uncertainty remains, restaurants are reopening their doors and diners are slowly returning to their tables. In challenging times, sharing a meal with friends or family can provide a small but powerful sense of comfort, connection, and normality.
This month’s roundup of Israel restaurant openings and food news for March 2026 reflects that resilience. From new kosher restaurants in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv to neighborhood coffee shops, shawarma stands, and exciting chef projects across the country, the Israeli food scene continues to evolve — reminding us that good food and community still matter, perhaps now more than ever.

Recent Debbest Dining Experiences
- A fun and very filling Friday lunch at Janjariya (Kosher), the meat restaurant of the Ramban Hotel in Rehavia. The Kabbalat Shabbat atmosphere was lively and welcoming, with generous portions and comforting, crowd-pleasing dishes that made it feel like a proper start to the weekend. Dishes included kubbeh hamusta, lamb tagine with couscous, and stuffed vine leaves that melted in the mouth.
- Had dinner with a friend at Palamino Italian Lounge (Kosher) in Jerusalem. The pistachio pasta was my favorite dish, but check out more in my video review.
- Schnitzel Challah at Ayesha (Mehadrin) in Shuk HaCarmel.
- I had both a business lunch and dinner with friends at Super Hamizrach this month. The dishes differed between the two meals, except for the tuna tartar, which is a must-order every time I eat there.
