Recent Debbest Dishes

  • I was excited to finally check out the interesting flavors at Arte Glideria on Nahalat Binyamin. I tried the lemon & Campari and coffee granita, which were both delicious, but ended up with the vegan pistachio, which was the best vegan pistachio I have ever had.
  • Had dinner at the newish David 16 (Kosher) in Jerusalem. The setting is beautiful, and even though the tables are far apart, the acoustics are terrible, and it was very loud from people talking and loud music, even at 7:30 pm on a Sunday. My tuna tartare looked and tasted great. Both the market salad and the liver pâté were good but lacked a punch.  My fillet steak was slightly overcooked and a bit dry, and the gravy was very thin, adding little flavor. I loved the mashed potatoes, but the plate needed additional vegetables for balance, ideally something green. The dessert looked better than it tasted. Overall, it is a nice restaurant for large groups and those who like simpler dishes, but not for those seeking interesting flavor combinations. Everything on the menu was very safe.
  • Another fantastic dinner at Janjariya (Kosher) at the Ramban Hotel in Jerusalem. The honey olive oil dip and whipped tahina were both so good. We loved the veal tongue carpaccio and beef tartar. The mains were good but not as good as the starters.
