Israel Foodie News July 2025

Israel Restaurant Openings and Foodie News for July.

We always talk about Israeli resilience; however, the recent war with Iran seemed to test that resilience more than ever. While that terrible period has passed, we are reminded daily of the horrors of the war that continues in Gaza, which will not be over until everyone comes home. Life is slowly returning to how it was before Iran attacked us, and with that comes several exciting restaurant openings across Israel. From kosher meat restaurants and dairy cafés to beachside food trucks and rooftop cocktail bars, this month offers a diverse range of new culinary experiences to explore. Whether you’re in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, the Galilee, or the Negev, there’s something fresh and delicious waiting for you.

Some standout openings include Blondie, a grilled cheese café in Jerusalem’s Emek Refaim; Jewel Cocktail Bar, a new kosher cocktail bar by the beach in Tel Aviv; and Taurus Smokehouse in Savyon, offering bold Texas-Mexican flavors. Those seeking a gourmet seaside bite can head to Fish Co in Nahariya.

Recent Debbest Dishes

  • Cocktails and steaks at Andalucia in Kikar Hamusica with an old friend. The food and company were great, but the service fell short of expectations. Our waitress was baffled that we both ordered our fillet steak rare and tried to correct us, saying we meant medium-rare (we had tried in three different languages). I know it’s hard to find good wait staff right now, but if you work in a restaurant with filet steak on the menu, you should know the different options for ordering steak.
  • I attended the Home and Boutique Winery Fair at Soreq Winery for the fifth consecutive year. Most of the stalls are manned by the wine makers themselves, so it is an excellent opportunity to talk with them while tasting their wines. I also attended the Judean Hills Wine Festival Opening Event in Park Latrun. I was delighted to discover some wines that I was not previously familiar with, including Underdog Vineyards’ Rose, Ulu Winery’s Rose, Bazak Vineyard‘s Rose and Syrah, and Nevo Winery Tannat.
  • I was happy for the chance to attend the soft opening of Karkish during the Iran War for a brief escape from the world outside. Located in the basement of the new Ramban Hotel in Jerusalem, the intimate cocktail bar offers a small menu of meats, an extensive wine list, and creative, bold, and well-balanced cocktails. Find out more here.
  • I had dinner at Katzir, the new meat restaurant in The David Kempinski Tel Aviv hotel. I will be writing a full review next month.
  • Working breakfast at Piccolino in Kikar Hamusica in Jerusalem. I enjoyed the chestnut omelet, which was a first for me and not a combination I would have thought of.
  • I had the pleasure of organizing a wonderful business dinner for 20 guests at Tetto, a tranquil oasis in the middle of Tel Aviv. Here is a video of the event.
  • Had lunch at Tzemach, the newly kosher dairy restaurant of the Machneyuda Group. We shared a lovely, fresh salad with Jibneh, a Camembert cheese pastry with fennel jam, and the group’s famous polenta, served with mushrooms, asparagus, and truffle oil. Everything was delicious.
