A Summary of the Israel Beach Restaurants, Sea View, and River View Restaurants.

There is something special about eating a meal while overlooking the beach or sea. In many seaside cities around the world, some of the best restaurants are in the ports or on the beaches. I have always felt that Israel does not follow that rule. Many Israeli beach restaurants are overpriced and serve mediocre food because they know they have a captive audience. However, that trend is slowly changing, and more quality restaurants appear at the seaside up and down the coastline.

I have divided these posts into four different regions to make them more manageable, as shown below. While I will do my best to keep these posts updated, please be aware that things can change, and I would appreciate your input if you know of any place that has closed or changed.

South Israel Beach Restaurants

This post includes the South Israel beach towns of Rishon Le Zion, Ashdod, and Ashkelon but does not include the Dead Sea and Eilat. South Beach Restaurants are less touristy but have a few culinary gems.

Israel Sea View Restaurants – Tel Aviv Area

The greater Tel Aviv district, including Bat Yam and Yafo, is one area in Israel where it is not hard to find a restaurant with a sea view. These restaurants are typically centered around the ports and marinas or on the beach itself.

Israel Beach Restaurants – Central District

The Central District beach restaurants are located along the Sharon Plain, which includes the beach towns of Herzliya Pituach, Netanya, Caesarea, and Hadera. Herzliya Pituach is my favorite beach town and has the best selection of seaside dining, but there are also some good culinary options in the Caesarea Port.

North Israel Sea View Restaurants

Most beach restaurants are located in and around Haifa along the northern coastline, with some in Nahariya and others dotted along the coast up to Rosh Hanikra. The Old City of Akko has a variety of fish restaurants overlooking the water in the fishing port and around the walls of the Old City. Around the Sea of Galilee/Kinneret is a selection of restaurants, some better than others, and there are a few restaurants in the Galil on the Jordan, Dan, and Hatzbani rivers.

Kosher Beach Restaurants and Kosher Sea View Restaurants in Israel

Finding a Kosher beach restaurant in Israel was challenging, but in recent years, more kosher beach restaurants have opened along the coast. However, most of these restaurants are located on the beach promenade, overlooking the sea, and not on the sand. Beaches in Israel are the busiest over the weekends, especially on Shabbat, which is why the official beach restaurants, with full beach service, are all non-kosher. While it is still not possible to enjoy a kosher restaurant relaxing on a sun lounger with sand on your feet, there are still many options of restaurants near the beach with spectacular beach views.
